![]() The Shadow Mystic character (also a Vigorflow-based build) is slightly less ridiculous only because the Shadow transformation lacks a multi-hit attack like Frenzy. And if an an enemy is out of reach of a melee attack, I can probably hit it with an infusion attack. (Or I can hit a single boss enemy three times for a total of 40+ damage.) And I can jump this character pretty much anywhere I need on the battlefield since each infused object with Vigorflow+ also adds +1 speed (for potentially +4 speed with Openmind). Frenzy is strong enough to usually kill an enemy with each of the three attacks, and since I picked up Long Reach it's easy to find myself within reach of three enemies. My Wolftouched Mystic with Wolf Claw/Frenzy+, Vigorflow+ and Openmind is regularly dealing 20+ damage with each attack, even if I'm not being particularly careful to keep up the max number of infused objects. ![]() Then I discovered Vigorflow, a Mystic ability I'd previously ignored for all of my ranged Mystic characters, and learned I was so very wrong about that "suboptimal" part. I thought I was going to end up with some versatile but suboptimal brawlers. Also, transformations' attacks generally scale on both Bonus Damage and Potency, and it's easy to increase Potency as a Mystic. Initially I was going to make a party full of Warriors, but at the last minute decided go with Mystics instead so that the characters would at least have the option of infusion for attacking at range. So yesterday I started a new campaign with the specific intent of picking up some transformations that I so far either hadn't managed to get or had actively avoided because they didn't fit with my favored party compositions - specifically things like Wolftouched and Shadow that (at full transformation) are focused on melee, since I generally like to snipe enemies from a safe distance. At the end of each chapter, the intact buildings will contribute resources for the player to build better gear while having a higher infestation level reduces the peacetime between chapters and can make the next chapter more difficult.Tl dr: Warrior seems thematically like it should be the best class for melee-focused transformations, but I think Mystic is significantly better. The spread of infestations and spawning of incursions put pressure on the player to continue advancing the story and pushing back the enemy. Incursions are powerful enemy raids that will destroy buildings and towns in their path until they peter out or are defeated. Infestations will slowly spread to surrounding areas if not dealt with and over time with spawn incursions. ![]() An infestation means enemies are present in the area. The party can be split to meet these objectives, but the fewer characters working together the slower tasks go and the more likely they’ll be ambushed if working in an infested area. ![]() Here players can scout new areas, recruit new characters, build buildings, or move to locations of interest. Random events to develop relationships between characters are on the rarer sideīetween fights, players can move their characters around the overworld. ![]()
